Flames Defeat NCAA Division 3 Occidental College  LOS ANGELES – It was a back-and-forth game in which neither team could take control of the momentum until the closing minutes when Bethesda went on a 16-4 run in a 6-minute stretch to pull away from the Tigers. The Flames went 6 for 10 during the same stretch and the Tigers went just 2 for 11 the rest of the way as they let the lead slip away. The Flames earned their first victory of the season and knock off a NCAA school in route.   “It was great to get this win,” Coach Victor said. “Obviously we have a ton of work to do, but I think we’re heading in the right direction.” A season filled with a couple of losses finally took a positive turn for the Bethesda men’s basketball team.  Dainel Chavez scored 19 points and Jamelle Holieway chipped in 12  in the 78-68 win over Occidental College. “We got the monkey off our back,” Chavez said. “Nobody wants to start the season with losses, but this should boost our confidence.”
